Abigail Susik received her doctorate with distinction in twentieth-century Art History and Theory from Columbia University in 2009, and is currently an Associate Professor of Art History at Willamette University in Oregon. She is the author of many articles on dada and Surrealism, including studies of Max Ernst, Leonora Carrington, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Hans Richter, Louis Aragon, automatism, and other subjects. Susik curated the 2016 exhibition “‘For Myself:’ Nudes by Imogen Cunningham, 1906-1939,” at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art in Oregon. She is the co-editor of two in-progress volumes: "Radical Dreams: Surrealism and Counterculture, 1960-1980," and "Surrealism and Film After 1945." Her in-progress book manuscript is entitled: "Surrealist Sabotage and the War on Work." Susik is a founding board member of the International Society for the Study of Surrealism, and co-organizer of its inaugural 2018 conference.
