As a practicing artist and scholar, Fiedrich holds a graduate degree in visual arts funded by the CIHR (2011) on the subject of bodily capacities and adaptability. A current MA candidate at Simon Fraser University’s School for the Contemporary Arts, Fiedrich is the recipient of a SSHRC Graduate Scholarship for her ongoing research about the living body, its relationship to socio-cultural systems and structures, the mediation of life via technological means and advancements in biomedical research. With an interest in both studio and research-based approaches, Fiedrich explores the various tangents of transformation, adaptation, visibility and representations of the body through her writing and art practices. Fiedrich has earned diplomas in photography and printmaking, an undergraduate degree in studio art, an MAA in Visual Arts (ECUAD 2012), and is a candidate for the MA in Comparative Media Arts (SFU 2015). She has exhibited in Canada and the USA and received awards for excellence in academics, printmaking and photography. Alongside her art practice, Fiedrich is an independent arts administrator, sessional faculty at Emily Carr University of Art + Design and produces work as part of Vancouver-based artist collaborative Lucida Lab.
