Carl Diehl
Extending the function of metaphors, puns, neologism and other linguistic devices into new contexts, Carl Diehl moves between genres and across media, pursuing new paths of inquiry into the history and social practice of technology. Together with Lindsey French he is developing the Antonymic Exchange, an idiosyncratic approach to algorithmic literacy. In Portland, he coordinates monthly meetings of HTML ( Hundred Thousand Million Labyrinths) a constraint-based writing group, pursues the "atempastoral,"and programs events with Weird Shift, a center for marginalia studies. He teaches courses in New Media Studies and Time Design at the Pacific Northwest College of Art and Portland State University.
